bridge photo organic shape

I found this picture on a photography website and i really liked how it impliments a lot of the principles and elements of design. I like the repetition of the and direction of the bridge supports and the curvature of the bridge. I also like the shape of the negative space that the positive space (the bridge) creates.

John clang photo

"John Clang’s art is a bewildering timescape of distinct strangers sharing space in an ordinary urban landscape. Capturing a fascinating perspective of movement across space and time, “Time” is a series of montage-style images recording people on the street in the same location over a period."

Interesting Interior

I found this picture on a website for modernized interior designs. The Poltrona Frau showroom occupies two floors of an ex-industrial grade 2 listed building in London’s Clerkenwell area. The space has been designed to display standard production pieces and showcase projects in an off-center format.

Hallway

This is another picture i found on another website that has great repetition and good grayscale from dark to light to dark again. At first I couldnt be sure if it was a picture or a drawing but the person who took it said he used photoshop filters to make it look more surreal.

zippo BandW

Black and white photography. I liked these pictures because of the reflective surface of the lighter. in the second picture you can see the reflection of the rocks in which the lighter was sitting on. The first picture is simplistic and the second is more interesting because of the reflection.

Feline Cent-i-cat

A great example of good photoshop work. The cat appears seemlessly, except for the fact that the legs are clearly duplicated of each other.

Pub cover

As part of my publication design class we are to make a magazine or 'book' including a cover page, and articles and everything in between. I chose to do a gaming magazine and for the front cover, rather than take a photo from somewhere, I needed to make my own design for the cover. so I used the picture below to create the picture above.

futuristic laptop

Another example of futuristic technology that I used as a basis for my rendering of a 3d object but created it in illustrator using gradient mesh and other illustrator tools. Below is my illustrator version of the futuristic collapsable laptop.

3d animation room

I was looking to re-make my interior design for my 3D animation project. I wanted to make it more modern and I found this picture of a modernized room that I really liked. I really enjoy the design of the back wall with the flat screen and speakers and the light really plays well in the room. designing some of the furniture will be quite a task though.

red dusk

When I saw the moon the other day, it was full and red. I took a picture of it, but having a terrible camera I was unable to capture its full essence. So I started looking up other photos of the moon and found several interesting photos. This one in particular peaked my interest because of the silloute of the tree and the use of reds and yellows. It may have started as a photograph but clearly was edited to create a nice picture.

Magazine of the Future

http://youtu.be/7nOnvj8dB9k

As part of my publication dessign I was lookin for modern magazine layouts and came across a futuristic type layout of a magazine that includes a very thin video type paper so that magazines will have motion ads or even animated articles.

Celtic Tattoos

My friend wanted me to create a Celtic design tattoo for him. In doing research I found a few designs that I thought were most interesting. They are so intricate and interesting. He wanted particularly a celtic cross so I was lookin up a few designs that I could perhaps mimic. These are two designs that I found interesting in both line design and color.

Henna Tattoos

I was looking up tattoos from various countries and the meaning of their origins. I found a lot of pictures for henna tattoos. I found this picture to be highly interesting because of the intricacy of the tattoo. What makes it so cool is that it it not permanent so one can make intricate designs that will last for a long time but not forever.

Spiral Photo

This is my photo of a spiral ladder that I took at a park. I turned the image to black and white then I played with the levels and used the airbrush to lighten up the white areas.

Barrells

one of my recent photos that I took at an abandoned gas station. I choose to take this one because I liked the angle of the shadows and the light and I figured the light and dark spaces would work well in black and white especially if I played with the levels.

What is this?

I found this on a graphic design website. I have no idea what it is supposed to be for but I liked the explosion. I dont like how the text at the top blends in with the light reflection and makes it difficult to read.

7 Up?

I found this picture of what I know is a 7up bottle (judging by the red dot in the label). I really like the design of it and the water cascading upward and around the bottle It directs your eye from the logo to the top image and I think it works very well. Even though you cant read what is on the bottle, you know for sure its a 7up because of the Red dot thats become a recognizable logo for the product.

Color Explosion

I really like this picture of a nuclear explosion of color. I like the use of the grayscale sky and landscape and the angle of the buildings leading into the explosion.

Arbus Photo

When doing some research on black and white photography, I came across this photo that I recognized as being one of Diane Arbus' photos. I did a research project on her for my high school photography class and I really liked her bizarre photos.

Optical Logo

I found this logo when doing research for a cover page example for a magazine. The logo itself isnt too interesting, but when juxtaposed with itself in a different color it creates and optical illustion that when looking at the gray logo then the black one the center of the black logo appears to grow.

Music Posters

I found these great music posters on two different websites. the first one I found on my friends facebook page and the other I found on a design website that has a bunch of submissions from aspiring graphic designers. I found them both to be really interesting design wise.

Chair

I was looking for a new desk chair and I came cross a website that displays several pieces of furniture that have really unique designs. Among these I found a chair that has a stone look to it, I thought it was really cool and Id love to have it but it wouldnt really fit well with my room.

Magazine Design

For my publication design class we have to design a magazine with cover page, back cover, table of contents, and article pages. Im creating a game magazine so I wanted to make the pages within the magazine interesting and fun to read. When I came across this ad, I liked the color choice and the direction of the text and images. I think it would look good as a back cover ad or an ad inside the magazine.

Portrait

When looking for examples of black and white photos I found an interesting portrait photo of a Native American. I find it interesting because of the texture of the skin and the closeness of the photo
